Title: Soul Care Through the Life Stages
Author: Suzette McGonigal
Synopsis: This Certification for Ministry course considers human developmental stages across the entire life span, with emphasis on self-care amidst the soul care of others. We will examine key biblical, theological, psychological, relational, spiritual and ministry issues of the life cycle. What does flourishing look like at each life stage? How do people grow in ways that are attune to God’s design? Self-reflection will be used as students examine their own life journey. Understanding of and appreciation for the unique ministry opportunities of each stage will be gained through this process. The aim of the course, in support of Theology Dept. goals, is to develop habits of life that will lead to holistic living through a regular rhythm of life patterns consistent with God’s intent in creation and redemption. Spiritual, emotional, and mental health development are foundational for all career paths, and thus will also contribute to the consideration of calling and vocation.
